Project list on the Dashboard
•Open: Opens the selected memoQ project. Only one project can be open at a time. •Rename: Opens a dialog to rename your project. •Move To Recycle Bin: Moves a project to the recycle bin. •Wrap Up: Finalize a project. •New Project From Template: Starts the New memoQ project wizard, and creates a new local project from a template. •New Project: Starts the New memoQ project wizard, and creates a new local project. •New Online Project From Template: Starts the Create online project dialog, and creates a new online project from a template. •New Online Project: Starts the Create online project dialog, and creates a new online project. This command is available in the project manager edition only. •Import Package: Import a package from another tool provider, depending on the package type, a different wizard appears: oImport Handoff Package: Displays the Import handoff package dialog. oImport Transit Package: Opens the Import Transit PXF package dialog. oImport SDL Studio Package: Opens the Import SDL Studio package dialog. oImport TIPP Package: Opens the Import TIPP package dialog. •Check Out From Server: Displays the Check out online project dialog to connect to a server, retrieves the list of online projects assigned to you and checks out a project to work on. •Read-only Checkout: Displays the Check out online project dialog to connect to a server, retrieve the list of online projects assigned to you and checks out a read-only copy of your online project. •Publish On Server: Starts the Publish project wizard to publish the selected project on the selected memoQ server. This command is available in the project manager edition only. •Clone: If the selected project is an online project, this command creates a copy of it without the documents. The cloned project preserves all settings of the original project. This command is available in the project manager edition only. •View Recycle Bin: Opens the recycle bin to view the projects which you have moved to the recycle bin. •Base Progress On: Opens a submenu where you can choose what memoQ should count when it calculates the progress of a project:
•Segments: memoQ compares the number of confirmed or proofread segments to the total number of segments in the document or the project. •Words: memoQ compares the number of source words in confirmed or proofread segments to the total number of source words in the document or the project •Characters: memoQ compares the number of source characters in confirmed or proofread segments to the total number of source characters in the document or the project. The default setting is Words.
•Weighted Counts: Displays the weighted word or character counts instead of the total counts. The weighted word counts usually count fewer words or characters for exact matches or good fuzzies, and only count the total word count for matches below 75%. This depends on the weights that you can set up in Options, Miscellaneous, Weighted word counts - or, if it's an online project, Server Administrator, Weighted counts. |

Project home - Translations pane - Documents tab
These commands work on the selected documents in the Translations pane of Project home.
•Expand All: Expands all folders and subfolders in the tree view of the Translations pane. •Collapse All: Collapses all folders and subfolders in the tree view of the Translations pane •Open For Translation: Opens the translation grid for the selected document or documents. To open a document for translation, you can also double-click its name. •View/Edit Document Comments: Opens the Notes dialog to add or view a note. •Import: Imports new documents to your project. •Import With Options: Imports new documents to your project in using a document import filter. •Import Folder Structure: Imports documents to your project which are included in a folder structure. memoQ imports the files and remembers the folder structure. •Export: oExport Bilingual: Starts the Bilingual document export wizard to save the document contents in one of memoQ supported bilingual formats (two-column RTF, bilingual Word document, and XLIFF). oExport (dialog): Exports the translation for the selected document or documents. For each document, memoQ will display the Save as dialog where you can choose a location and a name for the document to export. If the document has formatting tag errors, memoQ warns of them, and does not export the document. oExport (stored path): Exports the translation of the selected documents to the location shown in the Export path column for each document. If a document has formatting tag errors, memoQ warns of them, and does not export the document. •Images: oTranscribe Images to open up the Image transcriptions tab: Here you can transcribe an image, leave instructions, lock/unlock images. oPrepare Image Localization Pack: Opens a dialog to export a ZIP file of the selected image(s) to send to localizer. oImport Localized Images: Opens a dialog to import a ZIP file which contains the translated images that you sent out using Prepare Image Localization Pack. The image files in your project will be updated with the translations. •Remove: Removes the selected document or documents from the project. The document is deleted from the project folder, but it is not deleted from its original location. •Reimport...: Imports the selected documents again. This is the same as removing the document first, and then using Import to import the document again. Use this command if the contents of the original documents have changed. To use the command, the original document must still be available at the original location. •Import Reviewed Document: Imports a reviewed monolingual document. •Tasks: oStatistics: Opens the Statistics dialog to calculate word and character counts, and analyse the documents against the translation memories in the project. oPre-Translate: Opens the Pre-translate and statistics dialog to pre-translate your document(s). oRun QA: Displays the Run QA dialog, and runs quality assurance on the selected documents. •History/Reports: Opens the History and reports dialog that shows the version history of the selected document. This command provides sensible results if the selected document is under version control. •Create Snapshot...: Displays the Create document snapshot dialog to create a new minor version of the active document. This command is not available if the active document is not under version control. •Add To LiveDocs Corpus: Displays the Add documents to corpus dialog, and copies the selected documents to the LiveDocs corpus of your choice. •Create View: Opens the Create view dialog to create a view from the selected document or documents. The view will appear in the Views tab. •Enable Preview For Translations: Allows you to see the real-time preview of the translation. This toggle is turned on by default; if you click it, it will turn off. •Import Embedded Objects: Allows you to import embedded objects like images in documents. You can turn on this feature in the application menu: Options > Options > Miscellaneous. •Base Progress On: Opens a submenu where you can choose what memoQ should count when it calculates the progress of the documents and the project:

Project home - Translations pane - Views tab
These commands work on the selected views in the Translations pane of Project home.

For each document, memoQ will display the Save as dialog where you can choose a location and a name for the document to be exported. If the document has formatting tag errors, memoQ gives you warnings, and does not export the document. •Export (stored path): Exports the translation of the selected documents to the location shown in the Export path column for each document. If a document has formatting tag errors, memoQ gives you warnings, and does not export the document. •Add to LiveDocs corpus: Displays the Add documents to corpus dialog, and copies the contents of the selected views to the LiveDocs corpus of your choice. |

This is the case, for example, if you receive a LiveDocs corpus by e-mail from another memoQ user. •Migrate: Migrates an older corpus to be used in memoQ 2015. |
Project home - LiveDocs pane - LiveDocs documents
•Import Document: Imports one or more documents, and adds them to the current LiveDocs corpus. When you click this link, the Open dialog appears where you can select one or more documents, select the language of the document and add keywords. You can select multiple documents of various types (i.e. you can mix the document types). With the Import document command, memoQ opens the Document import options dialog and will use the default document filter with its default configuration for each file extension. For example, it will import .DOCX files using the Microsoft Office Word 2007 document filter. But you can also specify the import settings for each document. After you select the document or documents in the Open dialog, the Document import options dialog appears and you can click the Change filter and configuration command link to open the Document import settings dialog, where you can adjust the import settings specific to the selected document type. You can even select a different document type. If you select multiple documents of different types, the Multiple file import settings dialog appears where you can choose and configure a document filter for each selected file. •Import Folder Structure: Displays an extended Add folder structure dialog where you can choose a folder to import, and configure various settings of the import process. memoQ will import all supported files from the selected folder and its subfolders. In this dialog, you can also configure the document filter for each file imported. At the bottom of the dialog, you can enter the keywords and select the language for the documents. •Add Alignment Pairs: Opens the Add alignment pair dialog to browse for one source-language document and one target-language document to align. You can also import several files at once. This way you can match for example the folder structure of an English website to a French one. •Link Documents: If you select one monolingual (Library™) document for the source language and one monolingual document for the target language from the list, by clicking this command you can establish a link between the two and treat them as a LiveAlign™ alignment pair. •Export To TM: Exports the contents of the selected bilingual documents and alignment pairs to one or more selected translation memories. Displays the Export to TM dialog. •Remove: Removes the selected document or documents from the project. The document is deleted from the project folder, but it is not deleted from its original location. •View/Edit: Opens the editor or viewer for the document type. LiveAlign™ documents are opened in the aligner view, ActiveTM™ documents are opened in a bilingual editor, Library™ documents are opened in a monolingual editor, whereas EZAttach™ documents are opened in a third-party tool that can display the binary format (such as an image viewer). •Export: Export the individual document into XLIFF format. Opens the Corpus document export options dialog. •Import: Imports LiveDocs corpus contents from an XLIFF file. Use this command to open a bilingual document to be used as an ActiveTM™ document. The Open dialog appears with the possibility to select the source and target languages in multilingual projects and to add keywords. •Toggle Read-Only: Makes it impossible to edit a document by mistake. Equivalent to clicking on the Document is editable checkbox. |
Project home - Translation memories pane
These commands work on the selected translation memory or memories in the Translation memories pane of Project home.
•Create/Use New: Displays the New translation memory dialog to create a new translation emory. •Clone: Creates an empty translation memory with the same custom fields as the selected TM. •Delete: Deletes the selected translation memory. memoQ asks for confirmation before executing the command. •Edit: Displays the Translation memory editor for editing the contents of the selected translation memory. •Properties: Displays the Translation memory properties dialog to view or change the properties of the selected resource. •Use In Project/Remove From Project: Adds the selected translation memory to the project. If it is already added, removes it. •Set As Working (Primary): Sets the selected translation memory as working (primary) TM, where all confirmed segments are written until you choose another primary translation memory. •Set As Master: Sets the selected translation memory as master TM, where all confirmed segments are written when the project is finished, and the project manager performs the Confirm And Update Rows from the Operations menu. •Import from TMX/CSV: Imports the contents of a TMX or CSV file into the selected translation memory. •Export to TMX: Exports the contents of the selected translation memory into a TMX file. •Query Repository: Starts the Query TM Repository wizard to create a new translation memory from the TM Repository database. This command is available only if a memoQ server is selected, and it is connected to a TM Repository server. •Settings: Click this command to inspect and modify default translation memory parameters such as match s and penalties that define what translation memory results are selected. •Synchronize Offline: Creates a local copy of the selected online translation memory, or – if the local copy already exists – synchronizes the contents of the local and the remote copies: uploads any local changes, and downloads any remote changes. •Register Local. Opens a dialog where you can register a local translation memory. You need to register a local translation memory to be able to use it in memoQ if it is saved on your hard drive but not registered in memoQ. This is the case, for example, if you receive a translation memory by e-mail from another memoQ user. •Repair Resource: Starts the Repair wizard for the selected translation memory. Use when you think the translation memory is damaged. •Update Query: If the currently selected translation memory originates from a TM Repository database, this command displays the Update TM Repository from TM dialog to send back new and changed content from the translation memory to the TM Repository server. This command is available only if a memoQ server is selected, and it is connected to a TM Repository server. •Add to Repository: If the currently selected translation memory does not originate from a TM Repository database, this command the sends its contents to a TM Repository server. After you choose this command, your default Web browser will start, and display the Import wizard of TM Repository itself. This command is available only if a memoQ server is selected, and it is connected to a TM Repository server. |
Project home - Term bases pane
These commands work on the selected term base or term bases in the Term bases pane of Project home.
•Create/Use New: Displays the New term base dialog to create a new term base. •Delete: Deletes the selected term base. memoQ asks for confirmation before executing the command. •Edit: Displays the Term base editor for editing the contents of the selected translation memory. •Properties: Displays the Term base properties dialog to view or change the properties of the selected resource. •Use In Project/Remove From Project: Adds the selected term base to the project. If it is already added, removes it. •Set As Target For New Terms: Ranks this term base highest, and all your new terms are added to this term base. This term base is displayed in bold in the list. •Raise Rank/Lower Rank: Changes the ranking of term bases in the project. •Import Terminology: Imports the contents of a CSV or TMX file into the selected term base. •Export Terminology: Exports the contents of the selected term base into a CSV file. •Synchronize Offline: Creates a local copy of the selected online term base, or – if the local copy already exists – synchronizes the contents of the local and the remote copies: uploads any local changes, and downloads any remote changes. •Register Local. Opens a dialog where you can register a local term base. You need to register a local term base to be able to use it in memoQ if it is saved on your hard drive but not registered in memoQ. This is the case, for example, if you receive a term base by e-mail from another memoQ user. •Repair Resource: Starts the Repair wizard for the selected term base. Use when you think the term base is damaged. |
Translation grid
These commands work on the current segment or the selected segments in the translation editor. Some of the commands control the behavior of the translation editor.
•Join: Joins two or more segments into one. If you do not explicitly select the segments to be joined, the current and the next segment will be joined. If there is text in the target cells, they are also joined. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+J. •Split: Splits one source segment into two segments at cursor position. The target text will remain in the first segment, while the newly created segment will be empty. To use this command, first position the cursor in the source cell to the point where you want to split the text. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+T. •Copy: Copies the selected text to the clipboard. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Ins. •Cut: Cuts the selected text out from the target cell, and copies it to the clipboard. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+X or Shift+Del. •Paste: Inserts the text from the clipboard at the cursor position or replaces the selection with the contents of the clipboard. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+V or Shift+Ins. •Copy Source: Click this command to copy one or more source segments to the corresponding target segments. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+Shift+S. •Copy Selection: Copies the selected text from a source segment to the corresponding target segment. To use this command, first position the cursor in the source segment, and select some text. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+Shift+T. •Edit Source: Under normal circumstances, you are not allowed to modify source segments. This command lets you edit the source segment. This may be useful when you need to correct a typo or mistake in the source segment that is not likely to repeat, in order to have the correct source segment stored in the translation memory. To use this command, first position the cursor in the source text. Default shortcut key: F2. •Revert Source: Restores the original text of the current source segment. Use this command to undo the changes you made to a source segment. To use this command, first position the cursor in the source cell. •Row History...: If the active document is under version control, this command displays the Row history dialog with earlier versions of the selected segment. •Revert To Earlier Version: If you have track changes turned on and imported your document with version history, you can revert the current version to an earlier verson. •Confirm: Stores the source segment and the target segment in the primary translation memory used in the active project, and sets the confirmation status to Confirmed. As this is the most usual operation, it is advised to always use the shortcut key instead. You cannot use this command if your project uses no translation memory. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+Enter. •Confirm Without Update: Set the status of the current segment to Translator confirmed, without storing the source segment and the target segment in the primary translation memory. The only way to confirm a segment if you do not use a translation memory. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+Shift+Enter. •Reject: Set the status of the current segment to Rejected. Default shortcut key: Shift+Enter. •Comments...: Displays a popup window where you can add a comment to the entire row, source or target cell, or add a note to a comment. Double-clicking the or the symbol next to the segment has the same effect. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+M. •Mark Text: Click the arrow to display further options for highlighting your text. •Clear Find/Replace Marks...: Clears Find or Replace marks from the translation grid after you select the scope from a popup menu and click OK. •Quick Add Term: Adds a new term pair to one or more term bases without displaying a dialog. Shortcut key: Ctrl+Q. •Add Term...: Displays the short version of the Add new term pair dialog where you can add a new term base entry. Shortcut key: Ctrl+A. •Clear Translations...: Clears some or all translations in the project, the open documents or the active document. Displays the Clear translation dialog. Use with caution. •Pre-Translate...: Displays the Pre-translate dialog with the pre-translation scope set to the whole project. •X-Translate...: Displays the X-Translate dialog to fill in the translations for the current document from its earlier major version. You can use this command to retrieve translations of the document after the source text was changed. •Concordance...: Displays the Concordance dialog to find all translation memory entries that contain the expression you are looking for. This command is available when the cursor is in the source segment and some text is selected. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+K. •Assembled Hit: Inserts the translation result assembled from fragments. This command is available only if there is any hit in the Translation results pane that was assembled from fragments. Default shortcut key: F4. •memoQ Web Search...: Opens the search provider list and the search results. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+F3. •Customize Appearance...: Displays the Translations grid of the Translation environment - Customize appearance dialog where you can customize the appearance of the translation grid (such as colors, font type, etc.). •Add Abbreviation...: Opens the Add Abbreviation dialog to add an abbreviation to your segmentation rule set. •Find Abbreviations...: Opens the Find abbreviations dialog to search for an abbreviation which you can then add to your segmentation rule set. |
Translation results pane
These commands work on the selected translation match. Some of the commands control the behavior of the Translation results pane.
•Insert target Into Translation: Inserts the target-language equivalent of the selected match in the current segment. •View/Edit: Opens the dialog box to edit the selected translation memory match or term base entry. •Delete: Deletes the selected TM entry from your TM. •Patch Matches: automatically fixes matches in the target cell. •Show Document: If the selected match comes from a LiveDocs corpus, this command opens the corresponding document from the corpus, and jumps to the segment where the match is coming from. If the match is no corpus match, this option is not visible. •If you right-click a term base entry from a term base, you have 3 more context options available: oDelete Source Alternative: Deletes the last term for the source language in this TB entry. Click OK in the dialog that opens, click Edit to open the Edit TB entry dialog for editing the existing TB entry. oDelete Target Alternative: Deletes the last term for the specific target language in this TB entry. Click OK in the dialog that opens, click Edit to open the Edit TB entry dialog for editing the existing TB entry. oAdd Selection As Alternative: Adds the selected term as alternative to the master entry of the term base you chose from the Term bases drop-down list (f you have more than one term base for your project). •Append Space To Inserted Terms: Adds a space after every term inserted into the translation grid from the Translation results pane. •TM And Corpus Match Overwrites Target: This is a toggle; if turned on, the Insert target into translation command or the Ctrl+Space key shortcut overwrites the target text in the current segment. If this is turned off, the Insert target into translation command or the Ctrl+Space key shortcut inserts the target text in the current segment at the cursor position. •Customize Appearance...: Displays the Lookup results tab of the Translation environment - Customize appearance dialog where you can customize the appearance of the translation results pane (such as colors, font type, etc.). |
Alignment grid
These commands work on the current segment or the selected segments in the alignment grid. Some of the commands control the behavior of the aligner.
•Split Segment: Splits a single segment into two at the current caret position. Shortcut key: Ctrl+T. •Join Segments: Joins two or more segments into one. If you do not explicitly select the segments to be joined, memoQ will join the active and the the next segment. Shortcut key: Ctrl+J. •Copy: Copies the selected text to the clipboard. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Ins. •Cut: Cuts the selected text out from the target cell, and copies it to the clipboard. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+X or Shift+Del. •Paste: Inserts the text from the clipboard at the cursor position or replaces the selection with the contents of the clipboard. Default shortcut key: Ctrl+V or Shift+Ins. •Create Synchro Link: Links two segments, and aligns them in the same grid row. Synchro links are indicated by blue lines. Shortcut key: Ctrl+L. •Create Cross Link: Links two segments leaving them in different grid rows. Cross links are indicated by dashed blue lines. Shortcut key: Ctrl+O. •Mark As Insertion: Marks a segment as an insertion, that is,.tells memoQ's alignment algorithm to stop looking for a corresponding pair for the marked segment. The insertion mark is not visible. Shortcut key: Ctrl+I. •Remove Link or Insertion: Remove a link between two segments. Also removes insertion marks. Shortcut key: Ctrl+R. •Create Review Link: Create a review link in a monolingual review session. •Run Aligner: Displays the Alignment options dialog to run the alignment algorithm again on the document pair or from the current segment. When it runs the aligner again, memoQ leaves manual links (synchro links and cross links) and insertion marks intact. Shortcut key: Ctrl+Shift+R. |
Resource console
These commands work on the selected resources in the Resource console. The following list contains commands that are available for all resource types.
•Create new: Creates a new resource of the selected type. You select the resource type in the category list on the left side of the Resource console window. •Delete: Deletes the resource, no matter if it exists on your computer or on a remote server. •Edit: Displays the dialog or tab to edit the resource. The appearance and functionality of the dialog or tab depends on the resource type. •Properties: Displays the Properties dialog for the resource. •Import new: Creates a new resource from a .mqres file. This command is available for light resources only. •Export: Exports the resource into an .mqres file in case of light resources. In case of translation memories or term bases, you can export the resource into a TMX file or a CSV file. •Set Permissions: If the resource is stored on a server, this command displays the Permissions dialog where you can control who can access the resource, and what they can do with it. •Remove from server: If the resource is stored on a server, this command deletes the resource from the server, but creates a local copy first on your computer. •Clone: In case of light resources, this command creates a copy of the resource with a different name. In case of heavy resources such as translation memories and term bases, this command creates an empty resource that has the same default settings and custom fields as the selected resource. •Share on server: If the selected resource is stored on the local computer, this resource uploads the resource to the selected server, and publishes it there. •Download changes: If the selected resource is stored on a server, this command downloads an updated version of the resource. This command is available for light resources only. In case of translation memories and term bases, you can use the Synchronize offline command instead: that command synchronizes the local copy of the resource with the changes on the server. To use the Synchronize offline command, the translation memory or term base must be available for offline use. •Download whole resource: If the selected resource is stored on a server, this command deletes the local copy of the resource from your computer, and downloads it again from the server. This command is available for light resources only. •Publish: If the selected resource is stored on a server, this command makes it available for remote use. •Unpublish: If the selected resource is stored on a server, this command unpublishes it. Unpublished resources are still stored on a server, but they are not accessible through the network. |

Options - Tools - Default resources and Keyboard shortcuts panes
These commands work on selected items in the Default resources and the Keyboard shortcuts panes of the Options dialog.
•Create new: Displays the Create new light resource dialog to create a new resource of the selected type. You select the resource type using the icons above the resource list. •Delete: Deletes the selected resource. •Edit: Opens the appropriate dialog where you can edit the selected resource. •Import new: Creates a new resource from a .mqres file. •Export: Exports the selected resource into an .mqres file. memoQ will use the export path stored with the project. •Clone: Use this command to create a copy of the selected resource with a different name. Always use this first if you want to make changes to the default resources that come with memoQ. memoQ will not let you edit the original copies of the default resources. |
Dashboard - Language Terminal
•Open in Language Terminal: Choose this context menu option to open the project record as it exists on Language Terminal, in your default browser. •Open local copy: Choose this context menu option to open the local counterpart of the project if available on your computer. •Manage on memoQ server: Choose this context menu option to open the online counterpart of the project for management (if you are allowed to access this server). •Import: Choose this context menu option to import using a project template into a local project or into an online project on one of the memoQ servers that you can connect to. •Import (without template): Choose this context menu option to import into a local project or into an online project on one of the memoQ servers that you can connect to. |
