Import SDL Trados Studio package

1. Save the SDL Studio package file to your Documents folder. (Or, use any other folder that you can easily open.)

   If you are using the project manager edition of memoQ: At the top of the Dashboard, from the server selector, choose My Computer.

2. On the Project ribbon, click the bottom part of the Import package button.

3. In the menu, click Import package into a new project.

4. An Open window opens. Find the folder where the package file is, and double-click the file. The Import SDL Studio package wizard starts.

2. At the top of the Dashboard, from the server selector, choose or type the address of the memoQ TMS where you want to import the package.

   You may need to log in: If you access this server for the first time, the Log in to server window opens. You need a user name and a password to access the server.

3. On the Project ribbon, click the bottom part of the Import package button.

4. In the menu, click Import package into a new project.

5. An Open window opens. Find the folder where the package file is, and double-click the file. The Publish project wizard starts:

   

1. Save the SDL Studio package file to your Documents folder. (Or, use any other folder that you can easily open.)

2. At the top of the Dashboard, from the server selector, choose or type the address of the memoQ TMS where you want to import the package - or choose My computer to import into an existing local project.

3. On the Project ribbon, click the bottom part of the Import package button.

4. In the menu, click Import package into an existing project.

5. An Open window opens. Find the folder where the package file is, and double-click the file.

6. In the Select a project window, click a project, and click OK.

   What projects are listed here? The ones where the source languages are the same, and the package's target language is one of the project's target languages.

Step 1: Set up basic project information

The first page of the Import SDL Studio package wizard is the same as the Project information page of the New memoQ project wizard.

memoQ automatically suggests a project name and fills in the languages.

The Project, Client, Domain and Subject values are also copied from the SDL Studio package.

You can change the details here.

To proceed: Click Next.

Step 2: Set up documents and import resources

In the second page, you can choose how the documents and resources are imported.

Normally, memoQ imports the translation memories and the term bases. If you don't need them - because you have better translation memories and term bases on your computer - clear the Import translation memories or the Import term bases check box.

When memoQ imports a term base from the package, it takes the name of the term base from the package. memoQ imports the definition, creator, creation date, modifier, modification date, part of speech and the forbidden status fields. memoQ only imports the project languages, or those where the main language is the same as one of the project languages.

You may need to customize the import of SDLXLIFF documents - for example, to import tracked changes or translation quality assessment (TQA) feedback. If the default settings do not work, click Configure the SDLXLIFF filter.

To create the project: On the second wizard page, click Finish.

Requires memoQ project manager and memoQ TMS or memoQ TMS cloud: To import an SDL Studio package in an online project, you need the project manager edition of memoQ. You also need a memoQ TMS, and you must be a member of the Project managers or the Administrators group on the memoQ TMS.

When you select a server before you import the SDL Studio package, the Publish project wizard starts.

The only difference is the second page, where you can choose how the documents and the resources are imported:

If you click the Import package into an existing project menu item under the Import package button, and select a package file, the Import package wizard starts.

1. On the Package details page, you can see the documents in the package, and change the package name under which the documents will appear in the project.

   

   Package names must be unique: memoQ warns you if a package with the same name was already imported. In this case, change the name.

2. On the Translation memories page, you can see the TMs in the package, and for each one, choose what to do with it:

   • Do not import: memoQ ignores the package TM's content.

   • Create new: memoQ imports the package TM's content into a new, empty memoQ TM.

   • Import into TM: memoQ imports the package TM's content into an existing memoQ TM. A new window appears. Select the memoQ TM from the Project or Local (for online projects: Server) tab.

   To choose the same action for all TMs: In the lower left corner of the window, click the Change all import options at once link.

3. On the Term bases page, you can see the TBs in the package, and for each one, choose what to do with it:

   • Do not import: memoQ ignores the package TB's content.

   • Create new: memoQ imports the package TB's content into a new, empty memoQ TB.

   • Import into TB: memoQ imports the package TB's content into an existing memoQ TB. A new window appears. Select the memoQ TB from the Project or Local (for online projects: Server) tab.

   To choose the same action for all TBs: In the lower left corner of the window, click the Change all import options at once link.

4. Click the Finish button.
