Some customers you work for may not allow you to access their memoQ server directly. You may receive a package instead. You then also have to deliver a return package which contains your translated documents. Your project manager has to enable the package workflow in the user properties. Otherwise, the Package tasks tab is not visible for you.

When you are assigned a package, you can download and upload packages on the Package tasks tab:

Use

In the My packages section, use filters to filter the package list. Enter a project name in the search field, then press Enter. You get a filtered view of the package list. Remove the text from the search field, and press Enter again to return to the unfiltered package list view.

Click the arrow icon (icon_hideList) to expand more filter options (click the icon_expandList icon to hide the filter options again):

Check or uncheck the following filter options to filter your package list view:

Show already downloaded check box: Check this check box to only show already downloaded packages.

Show delivery packages check box: Check this check box to  only show delivery packages that you uploaded for a project.

Completed check box: Check this check box to only show completed projects (packages downloaded and translated). A task is considered complete as long as the document is still in your workflow step, either as 100% or less done and not yet delivered.

You can combine different filter options in clicking the check boxes of the filters accordingly.

Use the Back to drop-down list to filter the package list for last week, last month, last year or all to display all packages.

Use the arrow to expand package contents:

Downloading packages

In local memoQ projects, you are able to create a Handoff package to be sent to the translator. In memoQ online projects, you can use a package-based workflow. These packages for online projects can be downloaded and delivered via the memoQWebTrans interface.

memoQWebTrans enables you to:

download packages (directly in memoQWebTrans after you logged in, or via a package link in a notification e-mail),

deliver return packages,

do a partial delivery.

The package-based workflow involves the following steps to download a package:

1.The project manager needs to enable the web translation and needs to check the Allow package creation check box in the Create new online project wizard.

2.When the package was created, you as the translator receives a notification e-mail about the package and that it is available for download. The e-mail is sent by the memoQ server (when configured) or in a separate e-mail by your project manager.

3.If you have not signed in to memoQWebTrans yet, a login window is displayed. Sign in to memoQWebTrans.

4.On the Package tasks tab, you see the assigned packages. Click the arrow button to extend a package and to  see its contents:

5.Click on the package name.

5. Click the Click here to download the package file link. Choose the location where you want to save the package, then save the package to this location. Click Close to close the wizard.

6. Import the package in the memoQ desktop application (Project > Import package) or double-click the package file. Translate the contents of the package.

Note: If you as the project manager create an online project with packages, and the translator is enabled to use packages, then he can sign in to memoQWeb, and download a package, and also deliver a package. He does not need to belong to the memoQWeb external users group.

Delivering a package

When an online project was created that allows packages, and you downloaded the package on the Package tasks tab of memoQWebTrans, you can also deliver your package.

The package-based workflow involves the following steps to deliver a complete package:

1.The project manager needs to enable the web translation and needs to check the Allow package creation check box in the Create new online project wizard.

2.You downloaded the package, and you have completed your work in the memoQ desktop application.

3.Then create a return package after you finished your translation. When the documents are translated, navigate to the Translations pane of Project home, and then click the Deliver/return command on the Documents ribbon tab. memoQ creates a return package from the documents in the project, and if you are allowed access to the memoQ server of your customer or vendor, memoQ automatically creates the package and uploads to the project.

4.If you are not allowed access to the memoQ server, then a package with the *.mqback extension is created instead. You either need to send in an e-mail, or you can directly upload it to memoQWebTrans.

5.Upload the return package on the Package tasks tab. Drag and drop the return package or click browse to browse to the package.

6.You will be asked if you performed a spell check and QA check. If you did so, choose the Yes, I did it all. radio button. If you have not done it yet, choose the No, I will deliver later. radio button. Click Deliver.

deliver_document2

You get a notification whether the upload was successful or not. When successful, then the documents advance to the next workflow step.

deliver_document3

The package-based workflow involves the following steps for a partial delivery:

1.The project manager needs to enable the web translation and needs to check the Allow package creation check box in the Create new online project wizard. The project manager also needs to check the Allow partial delivery check box in the Packages pane.

2.You downloaded the package, and you have completed some documents in the package in the memoQ desktop application.

3.Now you need to deliver document A. In the memoQ desktop application, navigate to the Translations pane of Project home, and then on the Documents ribbon tab, click the Deliver/return command. memoQ creates a return package for document A.

4.Log in to memoQWebTrans. On the Package tasks page, upload the package. The package is then processed, and you receive a notification whether the upload was successful or not. When successful, then this document advances to the next workflow step.

Note: When the partial delivery is disabled, you need to do a complete delivery of the package. The return package is then rejected when you try to upload it.

Tasks in different roles in the same package:

You are working on a big online project both as a translator and as a reviewer. Some documents are assigned to you as translator, other documents in the reviewer 1 or 2 role. You download and import the package in memoQ. The package contains the tasks in your 2 roles.

Editing a document in a package

It can happen that a document is edited, afterwards included in a package and downloaded.

When this is the case, and you try to edit the document again in memoQWebTrans which is now included in a package:

1.The project manager needs to enable the web translation and needs to check the Allow package creation check box in the Create new online project wizard.

2.You are assigned to the package and receive a notification e-mail.

3.Log in to memoQWebTrans. On the Document list page, you see the project with the documents being assigned to you.

4.Instead of downloading the package, you open a document, make changes to it, then you close the document.

5.Now you download the package that contains the document. You can no longer open the document in memoQWebTrans for editing, only within the package. When you open this document in memoQWebTrans, it is then in read-only mode.
